Deep Fried Plantains

Yum!

Because I like to use ingredients most people have in their homes or have used before I am going to make this with bananas. Plantains are easily available in most grocery stores but not all. On average most gamer's are more then likely to have a banana or two sitting around. Feel free to substitute plantains in for the bananas in your Deep Fried Plantains.
Here we go!

2 tsp (10 ml) butter
2 bananas, peeled and halved lengthwise

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add bananas, cut-side down, and cook until golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Turn bananas over, and continue cooking until golden brown on the other side, 3 to 4 minutes more.

1/2 cup (120 ml) water
1 cup (180 g) brown sugar

disolve in a pan over medium heat and stir. Any longer then that it will get hard and turn into caramel. Not a bad thing if your going for carmels but not so good if you want a smooth glaze.

Put two tablespoons of sauce on plate and spread. Place bananas cut side down on sauce. Drizzle with carmel sauce.

Serve plain or with ice cream.

Garnishes are optional: toasted almonds, chocolate chips, marshmellow. Be creative.

  1. Plantains are easy to get, and they are MUCH more tasty fried than a banana is, trust me I tried the comparison!

  2. I understand plantains are readily available in most areas. Most people don't buy them on a daily basis and they do buy bananas. I want to keep this blog basic and inexpensive. So everyone can play.
